Why do you love to skate? I love to skate because of the way it makes me feel. Skating changed my life and shaped me into the person I am today, it’s all I think about day and night. Landing a trick you have been thinking about for weeks is the best feeling in the world for me. Tell us about your personal philosophy, ethic, and value as a skater! I’ve been extremely passionate about skating since I tried my first pair 24 years ago. That passion has never faded and only got stronger over the years. As a kid I spent all my time at the skatepark counting all the new tricks I had learnt that day. Growing up I lost countless part time jobs because all I wanted to do was skate. Teaming up with Powerslide 15 years ago gave me some of the most incredible opportunities of my life. I’ve been sent all around the world doing what I love the most and I am very grateful for all these experinces. As long as my body is fit to skate I will continue pushing and honing my skills for as long as I can.
What keeps you pushing forward in skating? My motivation to keep pushing forward is a big part of my passion for skating, without thinking about it I see bigger and better tricks every day, subconsciously always driving forwards. The release I feel get when I land something that I once thought was impossible is the greatest feeling in the world. It’s more of a personal challenge and battle within myself to see how far I can push my limits. I don’t have an end goal or a level I want to reach, this will never end, as long as I skate I will naturally push my limits. It’s an addiction.
What is your favorite place to skate? My favorite place to skate is Barcelona. This city is like a skatepark, you can take a metro anywhere and find the most incredible skate spots. Moving here was definitely a good choice
What is your favorite trick? My favorite trick always changes, but right now I get the most enjoyment from jumping as high and far as I possibly can
What advice would you like to give? Always work hardest on the things that you love and don’t be afraid to make changes in your life to achieve those goals. There will be ups and downs and challenges everyday but if it’s for something you are truly passionate about, you will never work a day in your life.
Any hobbies outside of skating? A couple of hobbies outside skating, I enjoy playing piano, painting abstract and water polo... Not really I don’t even have shoes, Skates only!
Do you have a life philosophy or phrase that inspires you? DO THE TING!
What is your favorite moment in skating? So many favorite moments to mention but one that stands out was winning the IMYTA contest in Amsterdam 2006. I was well know in the UK but this contest put me on a international level. Also the same year I was sponsored by powerslide. Amazing times and plenty more to come!
